Mensagem: Hi, everybody! Marcelle from Rio Claro asked sugestions about how to work with the readers. I work with the 7th and 8th grades here in my school, in the 7th grade we asked the students to bring examples of sounds and their names in English, we gave them the material from this site to work with the book reading itself and as a final work they are going to write a new end to the story; in the 8th grade I worked with the song "Ebony and Ivory", a quiz about prejudice, they presented a written research about laws and facts (some cases of prejudice), they did the exercises about the book from this site, and in August they are going to present a video campaign( in English) to avoid any kind of prejudice in our school. It''s my first year working with CONNECT, actually, it is my first year teaching, and I have been having great results, the books are great, but I don''t really know a good way to work with the readers, does anybody have a good ideia? We are very happy to take part in this community. We would like to share with you the wonderful results we have reached in our school and how we have worked with the Connect Book. We started working with Connect last February.
I am the teacher responsible for the 5th and 6th grades and we have changed the Theme Project for Unit 1 with excellent results. And what is moreimportant: the students loved it! Instead of introducing a classmate, they play a kind of a game in which they have to guess their classmates names through a chart with their preferences. Attached you can see the project – it is more an idea inspired on the excellent material provided by the Connect Book.
