Research Genres is a sequel to John Swales' influential book, Genre Analysis. This new volume opens with an account of today's research world, its many configurations of genres, and the role of English within them. It then explores various theoretical and methodological issues, with a special emphasis on metaphors of genre. The next four chapters deal with important research genres, both spoken and written.
